1963 Sunbeam Tiger "Prototype by Ken Miles"
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own one of the most significant British Anglo Sportcar Classics
ever produced. Bearing serial # B9109464, this is the actual car that started the Ford Motor Company considering
to build the infamous Sunbeam Tiger along w/the Rootes US Distrubitor, Ian Garrad. Ian Garrad was based in California
& managed the Sunbeam Motorcar Distributorship from England, here in the States. He also had a very successful Factory
backed race program for their Alpine model. Ian decided to take one of his best Race Car Drivers, Ken Miles, from their
SCCA Race Division & let him remanufacture a brand new V-8 motored Alpine. Other notable drivers at the time of the
very same 1962 Alpine Race Team were none other than Sir Sterling Moss, Bruce McClaren, Jerry Titus & Jack Brabham.
Keep in mind...Mr.Miles raced for successfully the Porsche Factory team in the late 50's & later came in 2nd in the
most Historic 24 Hours of Le Mans ever in 1966. That year became most remembered by the 1-2-3 victory for Carroll
Shelby's GT-40 Team. The Miles/Hulme GT-40 Mk.II finished # 2...but was the overall favorite to win ! Ken Miles built
this gorgeous "Tiger" Prototype by installing a brand new out of the crate 260 V-8 sent directly from Ford. It was
the 1st of 2 original Tigers that pre-dated all Tiger production & is documented beyond compare. It is now restored
to perfect new condition having a complete nut & bolt restoration by it's former owner. The Candy Apple Red finish
is flawless, the black interior is brand new as is the black soft top. It has a rare 2 speed Automatic transmission
that shifts wonderfully & the car is in "as new" condition, better than the day it was made. It has front discs
brakes w/an original set of very rare magnesium optional 13" American Racing Silverstone wheels. This has got to be
the nicest Tiger in the world...bar none ! It runs & looks NEW ! Take advantage of this opportunity to acquire this
piece of Ford Musclecar History. This is what started it all...along w/the 289 Cobras...The documentation that this
"Tiger Prototype" has is amazing. It is featured in no less than 3 books on the Tiger subject. It comes with a ton
of period photos from the Distributors Showroom. Also bills, reciepts, registrations & much more from many previous
owners since 1980. Most important...a letter personally written by Ian Garrad from 1980 verifying it is THE ONE that
he & Ken Miles produced together. There is only one 1st car made & this is the one & there are no more. PLEASE COME
& BID ON THIS SELLING @ "NO RESERVE" IN THE RM MONTEREY AUCTION ON SATURDAY,AUGUST 19TH.This is your last chance to own it !
