What a time warp to find such an original 1970 Plymouth Superbird. Purchased new in late 1970, by Thomas "Junior" Fitzpatick,in Zion, Illinois.
Taking delivery with only 10 miles on the odometer from the small town dealer w/the 2 car showroon,"Harrison Plymouth".
No one wanted this big ugly gas guzzling muscle car...except for Mr.Fitzpatrick.
Junior used to ride his bicycle to work at the American Motors Factory. For 7 months he stopped by
Harrison Plymouth & threatened to buy this big bad green car ! Every month the salesmen
& the owner used to laugh it off & thought they'd never see Junior get this Superbird.
Well after months of visitation rights to his dream car on the way to work, Junior shows up
with a check paid in full from the AMC Credit Union & off he went in his new Superbird.
Jr.managed to hang on to it for the next 28 years. It has the potent 440 Magnum setup w/a
Torqueflite Automatic Transmission & Center Console Shifter. It has the cool "tik-tok-tac"
gauge that works well...but the clock doesn't at this time. Owning it for over 28 years & 18159 miles,
it was then purchased by Zion native, Albert Petree. Al drove it a whole 2 miles in 8 years of ownership.
He needed gas at that time & kept it for investment sake in a nice dry storage barn for the last 8 years.
That brings us to today...2 owners ever...never left the Zion area & kept in storage most of it's
36 years on this earth. It is 100% original...paint,vinyl top,interior,motor/tranny,undercarriage & spare!
It is now sporting a new set of NOS style Goodyear tires on a set of 15" Rallye Wheels.The nose cone area was touched
up & the front decals around the headlights were replaced from years of stone chips. All other decals from the white
"Plymouth" on the sides to the Roadrunners on the back Spoiler...all original & unmolested inside & out. It still has
it's original Harrison Plymouth sticker on the trunk lid as well as the remainder of it's original Monroney Label on the
back left window ! I removed the original build sheet from under the back seat...in perfect shape.
Going off the build sheet, this Superbird is equipped as follows: (E86) 440/375 HP Super Commando V-8,(D32) Torqueflite Tranny,
(FJ5) Limelight Hi Impact paint,(P6XA) Charcoal & Black Premium Bucket Seat Interior,(V19) Special Order Vinyl Top,
(26) 26" radiator,(C16) Woodgrain Console,(052) 3.55 Axle Ratio,(670) A727 Torqueflite (440/4bbl).Galen
Govier has decoded & registered this as we speak from the original build sheet supplied. I have gotten this paperwork
& a perfect replacement Fender Tag as it's been missing for years. The vinyl top in incredibly clean showing no rust anywhere! The Charcoal &
Black interior is also super clean & all original. Even the headliner, dash, door panels & the whole carpet look
excellent not needing any replacing. This Superbird was just detailed by hand & is a near perfect original speciman !!
There is no...repeat...NO THRU RUST on this car anywhere...PERIOD !!! Of course...matching #'s drivetrain & transmission...
never out of the car ! It also has perfect & all original body panels & floors. This is the most desirable
Muscle Car in the world in the best available High-Impact" color of "Limelight Green".It is 100% original condition...go find another !
